Yoga has been used for centuries as a way to balance the body and the mind. Traditionally, yoga includes a wide range of physical, mental and spiritual disciplines that originated in India between 2,000 and 3,000 years ago.
First formed as a way to attain self-control over the mind, yoga was introduced to Europe and America in the late 19th century. Today, it’s a hugely popular form of exercise known for its wide range of mental health benefits, as well as its ability to improve flexibility, strength and balance.
The yoga we offer at London Road combines poses, stretches, breathing exercises and mindfulness inspired by a variety of yogic forms.
Yoga is really popular partly because it’s such a relaxing and versatile form of exercise. Yoga can be practised by people of any age, strength or fitness level. It aids flexibility and strength, while promoting breath control, relaxation and mental wellness.
Zero! You don’t need to have ever tried yoga before to be able to take a class with us. We have classes that are specifically designed for beginners and we aim to make all our yoga accessible, friendly and easy to follow.
You don’t need to worry about instructors rushing you or other people in the class judging you either - we pride ourselves on creating an open and supportive space so that anyone can join a class and feel comfortable.

Hatha yoga is all about a holistic mind-body experience. This form of yoga mixes controlled breathwork - known as ‘pranayama’ - with different poses and movements.
Suitable for all - these classes are designed to be an introduction to yoga for complete beginners, but all abilities are welcome. Come and explore the wonderful physical and philosophical elements of yoga through a classic combination of breath control, movement, postures, deep stretching and meditative relaxation.
The best part is, our instructors are all trained to help complete beginners through to extra advanced practitioners so whatever your level, you’re sure to have an amazing session.

With an emphasis on cardio-based fitness, Freestyle Fitness Yoga is the most physically challenging yoga class we offer at London Road. In this class we work with you to help improve your stamina, tone your muscles and build up your trust and confidence in your body.
Freestyle Fitness Yoga is all about feeling each posture and getting a better understanding of how it contributes to your overall fitness. In these classes, we connect your mind with your body, encouraging you to lean into each position and really feel your body, appreciating every movement and muscle. These classes are fully adaptable so you can choose how far you want to push yourself - you’re in control!
